Backpacking in Peru/Bolivia

I was really busy the past months, which is the reason i didn't update my blog. For one month i was backpacking with my best friend in Peru and Bolivia. It was my first time backpacking, therefore an incredible experience. We started our tour in Lima, from there we went to Paracas, where we went with Quads to the Paracas National Parc. Our next stop was Huaccachina for the amazing sand boarding experience. From there on we took the bus to Arequipa, because we wanted to see the Colca Canyon. After a couple of days and a visit to the doctor we went to Puno. In Puno we did a tour to the floating islands on the titicaca lake. It's hard to believe but people actually live on those small islands. The next day we took the bus to Copa Cabana, Bolivia. We stayed for 2 hours and then took the next bus to La Paz, Bolivia. In La Paz we straight went to a hospital because i still didn't feel better. I had to stay for 4 days due to parasites and salmonella- but i survived :D Because of this loss of time we could only do a 1day tour in the salt flats of Uyuni. Nevertheless it was an incredible experience, a whole desert made of salt. On the next day we took the bus back to Copa Cabana, where we stayed for the night and then went to the Isla del sol (titicaca lake). For the first time of my life i saw the milky way! After getting back to Copa Cabana for the bolivian national day we went back to Puno, where our 21 hour nightbus was waiting for us. In the early morning we arrived in Cusco, Peru. We were staying at Ecopackers, a hostel that i highly recommend- clean rooms, good service and perfect location to explore the city. In Cusco we visited some museums, old inca ruins, did a cooking class and of course hiked machu picchu. To get to machu picchu we first had to take a van that brought us to a train station somewhere in the middle of nowhere. From there we decided to walk 3 hours to aguas calientes, instead of taking the train. The walk was one of the nicest experiences of the whole trip, because you get to see wonderful nature. Aguas calientes itself isn't very beautiful, very touristic and loud. On the next morning we woke up at 4am, we started our hike up to machu picchu at 4:30. The first 30 minutes were chill, but after crossing the bridge to the area the tough part started: approximately 45 minutes of just stairs. The way up was hard, it was rainy, dark and we were sweating like animals, but when we reached the top we felt like the kings of the world (or at least peru). Sadly the weather wasn't as nice as expected, but in-between the clouds cleared up and we saw the inca ruins. All in all it was one of the best experiences from the trip. From Cusco we flew to Lima to spent a last day in our party hostel, called Pariwana. With drinking games, a guy doing magic tricks on the rooftop terrace and some funny stories we ended our trip.
For now i will only upload the panorama pictures i took, but more will follow!

Berlin

Last week i was in Berlin, visiting my friend Laura for the Fusion Festival. Berlin is one of my favourite cities anyways and every time i go there, i find a new trendy bar, restaurant,... Fusion Festival was incredible, it's hard to describe the feeling you get as soon as you enter the area. I barely took any pictures at the festival (only with my exposable camera) because i was to busy enjoying it. Next year i definitely wanna go there again, it's like living in a parallel world where everyone is nice and happy. For now i am back home in Frankfurt (hammersbach to be exact haha) until i am leaving for Peru next week.

SUMMER IN BCN

Summer in Barcelona is simply awesome. My friends from Frankfurt visited me during Sonar and we went to a couple of Off Sonar parties. The weather was perfect and so was our mood. A great week where we met so many cool people (so many germans haha) and had a lot of fun.

Tuna-white Beans salad
1 Box of Tuna
1/2 Jar of white beans
1/2 Onion
Fresh basil
Spices (chiliflakes are awesome with it)
Olive oil
Vinegar

So simple but so good: Just cut the onions (i like it sliced because the other ingredients are quite big and sliced you taste the onion better), mix it with tuna and the watered white beans. Season it with pepper, salt and chiliflakes (if you like it spicy). Add a lot of the basil and voilà- the easy, healthy snack is ready!

Also i went to the hairdresser to get red ombre hair- i love it!

UPDATE

The past month was super busy, so many friends visiting, exams and of course the weather became better and better.. But from now on i will try to update my blog constantly (let's hope it works.. :D)

First of all, my cress grew amazingly fast! Now, a couple of weeks later, the basil also is almost perfect, so i just have to come up with a nice recipe that i can use it for.
What happened since the last blogpost? A lot! I met so many nice people, went on a day trip to Valencia (next blogpost will be about that), made some nice; healthy food (papaya rules) and successfully finished my exams (we don't have the results yet, but i am quite sure they all went pretty well). So since almost a week i can officially say: SUMMER HOLIDAYS!

Haven't seen this awesome girl for so long! Amsterdam bound <3

Barcelona with a sick sky

All you can eat sushi with my baby boy

Love at the beach..

Bonkers again but with a different gang this time :)

It took less than 2 weeks and the cress tasted awesome on some knäckebröd with cream cheese

So simple but so good

Papaya dessert (for 3 people)
1/2 Papaya
2 greek yogurts
granola (best if homemade)
coconut rasps

Put the yogurt in 3 bowls, cut the papaya and add it. Sprinkle everything with granola and some coconut rasps- and ready is the healthy and super tasty dessert! If you like raisins you can add them as well as nuts.

New project

I am a huge fan of homemade food, especially when you grow the ingredients yourself. When i came to Barcelona i had big plans about planting all kinds of fruits, vegetables and so on... of course i did not do it (yet). To get started and see if i have a green thumb (thats what the germans say, i don't know if its a common expression in english)i bought some seeds. I never grew anything in my life before, so i am quite excited for the result. I decided to start with basil and cress, because they can be used for a lot of nice dishes.
What you need:
Seeds
Earth
Cans
Water

Usually there is a description on the back of the package that explains how to plant them. The basil seeds need to be covered with earth, the cress seeds instead need to be sprinkled on top of it. My advise: google the seed and check what they recommend.
